VOTE! Some Pre-Voting Thoughts and Advice

Instead of telling you who to vote for (or even implying it), or worse, do something like "If I lived in your district I'd vote for..." I believe you should make up your own mind. Do I have an opinion? Yes, of course I do. But if I have helped anyone decide who to vote for, I hope it was with some careful deliberation of your own thoughts and values.

I care much less about my influence, if any, and less about a particular point of view or a candidate than I do about the right to vote.

My family talked about all the issues over dinner last night (adobong manok at kanin (chicken adobo and rice)), and we are ready to go.

Your vote is as important as mine. I couldn't begin to be egotistical enough to tell you who to vote for. As soon as I get some breakfast, I'm headed to the polls. I hope I see you there, you with your vote, and me with mine. Don't be someone's proxy voter.

Please. Vote for the candidate you think will be the best.

Update: At 7:10 am, I walked into my precinct and stood in a line of 12 voters, and all booths full. I didn't see anyone under 40 at my precinct. A malfunction with the ballot machine meant that we had to deposit our ballots in the manual box, but there was someone there with a replacement machine.

You'd think a voting machine would work for the first ten minutes after being tested.
