In fiscal year 2008, Oklahoma's Swift Adoption Services placed more than 1600 children in adoptive homes. But with great success, there are still more than 2400 children in Oklahoma waiting to join a loving adoptive family. The Director/coordinator was Gay Larson (a great photographer) and the co-chairs were Brooke Allen and Brooke Doughty. It was a great event. Also special recogintion should go to Natalie Green, owner of Apertures Photo, who spends so much time working on this event.
To help raise awareness, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services has joined with Oklahoma's News Channel 8, Tulsa, Wendy's Wonderful Kids and Tulsa Photo Group to develop this exciting art exhibit.
Fifty of Oklahoma's premier photographers have donated their time and talent to create these beautiful portraits of some of the hundreds of children waiting for a loving adoptive home.
I am always honored to be included with a group of photographers with names like:
Liz and Mike Hood
Tom Cummings, of Cushing
Rip Stell
Zane Yost
Jeff Park and
Harold Dorsey
Just to name a few.
I hadn't looked at the brochure until this morning, and I was surprised to see the portrait I made in the middle panel.
The Exhibit can be seen again this year at the Tulsa State Fair in the IPE Building, and it will be travelling the state througout the year.

I like the name "Waiting Child". Has anyone figured out how many children get adopted because of the exhibit - I sort of wish my state did that too.
